Description	:	Kathleen T. (Minor) Chicoine, 83, of rural Elk Point, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her home after a 2 years battle with cancer. Mrs. Chicoine was born February 16, 1932 in Nebraska City, NE. In 1935, she moved with her family to the rural Jefferson area. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950 and married Marvin Chicoine on June 5, 1950 in Jefferson, SD. Read More	Kathleen T. (Minor) Chicoine, 83, of rural Elk Point, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her home after a 2 years battle with cancer. Mrs. Chicoine was born February 16, 1932 in Nebraska City, NE. In 1935, she moved with her family to the rural Jefferson area. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950 and married Marvin Chicoine on June 5, 1950 in Jefferson, SD. The couple made their home on his grandfather, John Quintal’s homestead in rural Elk Point, SD. Mrs. Chicoine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point and belonged to the Altar Society. She was active for many years in the Cleverette’s Extension Club. She was a 4-H leader for 25 years when her nine children all participated in 4-H. She was co-owner of Chic’s Craft’s and participated in craft shows in the local area. Hobbies included gardening, reading, book collecting, canning, baking, drawing, painting, sewing, needlework, and extensive family genealogy work. Survivors include her 9 children; Sheryl (Jim) Goto of Carlsbad, CA, Leon Chicoine of Vermillion, SD, Denise (Roy) Strehlow of Jefferson, SD, Marcella “Marcie” (Richard) Cambigue of Sioux City, IA, Clarissa (David) Burroughs of Sioux City, IA, Rodney Chicoine of Anaheim, CA, Lori (Dale) Biermann of Ankeny, IA; Janine (Dale) Tramp of Crofton, NE, and Rebecca “Becky” Stamp of Elk Point, SD; 21 grandchildren: Jeffrey Goto, Melissa Chicoine Baatz; Ginny Hamann; Jason, James, Robert, Steve Strehlow; Michael, Paul Cambigue, Carrie Chicoine, Kristina O’Brien, Mary Burroughs, Starlyn, Celine Miller, Tristen Chicoine-Miller, Jessica, Eric, Paul Biermann, David, Christina, Nicholas Stamp; 17 great-grandchildren: Katelyn Deeds-Goodvin, Samantha, Brittany, Troy, Amy Hamann, Sophie, Bodie, Caleb Strehlow, Avery Strehlow, Favian, Alesia Cambigue, Layce Chicoine, Abygail, Alyvia Oehlerking, Kassiah, Deziriah Miller, and Conner O’Brien; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Irelynn Deeds, Brantley Goodvin,and Westyn Goodvin; her brother, Paul (Margarete) Minor; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
