Her mother did not care for that name, and later changed her name to "Kathryn Ann" Bliss (per Kathryn). --- Kathryn was born N.-N.E. of Buchanan, on the Bliss family farm on Geyer Road. --- After Kathryn's father died in 1938 (when Kathryn was age 3), her mother moved her children from the farm on Geyer Road, into town (Buchanan). Clemans. November 6, 1935 - August 26, 2012. Kathryn A. Clemans, age 76, of Buchanan, Michigan, died Sunday August 26th at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph, Michigan. She was born November 6, 1935 in Buchanan, to the late Lloyd & Cecile (Upham) Bliss, who preceded her in death. On June 9, 1954 in Buchanan, Kathryn married Jack Clemans who survives; along with two daughters, Pam Clemans, of Stevensville, Michigan and Jackie (Joe) Dembinski of Niles, Michigan; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Five sisters, Thelma Letcher, Marguerite Crocker, Mary L. Bliss, Barbara Huff, and Frances Batchelor, and a brother, Gordon Bliss, preceded her in death. Kathryn enjoyed working in her garden and reading. A service celebrating her life will be Thursday, August 30, at 11 a.m. at Swem chapel: Pastor Robert McPherson of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may begin calling one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions are of the donor's choice. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
