Nov 15, 1945 - Emmetsburg Democrat - Miss Cathryn McCoy, 64, a lifelong resident of Palo Alto county, died at her home here Friday quite suddenly, although she had been in frail health for many years. She and her sister, Miss Anna McCoy, made their home together. Funeral services were held Moday morning at the Assumption church, with the Very Rer. W.F. Mason officiating at the requiem mass. They were James and Walter McCoy, Robert Berger, John McDonald, John Hayes, and Dean O'Brien. Miss McCoy was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McCoy and was born on the McCoy homestead farm south of Emmetsburg. Despite the handicap of poor health all her life, she liked to aid in household tasks and since her sister, Anna, broke her hip a few years ago, Cathryn had assumed much of the responsibility of their home. Deeply religious, she gained much hope and consolation through her faith, and was a regular church attendant in spite of her lack of good health. Her sister, Anna, was very solicitous and helpful toward her, making her life as comfortable and cheerful as possible. Besides Anna, other survivors include Mrs. John Steil, at whose home the wake was held, Mrs. John McDonald, James and Charles McCoy, sisters and brothers. A sister, Mrs. Peter O'Brien, and two brothers, William and John McCoy, preceded her in death. To the surviving members of the family, sincere sympathy is offered in their sisters death.
