Description	:	Keith A. Smith, 91, of rural Douds died at 2:30 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at University Hospital, Iowa City. He was born August 19, 1923 in rural Douds to Kermit A. and Ruth Nedrow Smith and married Marilyn Rose Gire December 26, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Douds. Smith, 91, of rural Douds died at 2:30 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at University Hospital, Iowa City. He was born August 19, 1923 in rural Douds to Kermit A. and Ruth Nedrow Smith and married Marilyn Rose Gire December 26, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Douds. Keith graduated from Douds High School with the class of 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In the navy he traveled around the world and visited many foreign ports. While still in the Navy he purchased the farm on Highway 16 east of Douds where he and Marilyn lived their married life. In addition to farming he was a self-employed rock trucker hauling rock from Douds Stone and other quarries all over southeast Iowa, worked at Golden Furrow Fertilizer Co., Eldon and drove a Van Buren Community school bus. He was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion and Douds Community Club and had served on Van Buren Community School Board. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Warner and a brother, Murl Smith.
