Description	:	Keith Burnell Howard, better known as Sully by his friends, was the only child of Selby T. and Lida Webb Howard, and was born on a farm northeast of Nelson on March 17, 1920. Keith grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Nelson High School, and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the United Aircraft School in California. Read More	Keith Burnell Howard, better known as Sully by his friends, was the only child of Selby T. and Lida Webb Howard, and was born on a farm northeast of Nelson on March 17, 1920. Keith grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Nelson High School, and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the United Aircraft School in California. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, during World War II as an M.P. with Company B the 395 Division. Keith was married to Anita Joyce Harig on April 13, 1943, at Belleville, Kansas. He was a member of the Superior American Legion Post, the Disabled Veterans Association, and the Superior Masonic Lodge. He farmed near Nelson all of his life except during 1947 to 1949 when he was a monument engraver for the B.C. Mendell Monument Co. Keith died after an illness of a few days at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings on July 31, 1978 at the age of 58 years, 4 months, and 14 days. He was preceded in death by his father. His survivors are his widow, Anita Joyce Howard of Superior, and his mother, Lida Howard of Nelson. Services were held Thursday, August 3, 1978, at 2 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Chapel in Superior. Pastor Richard Kelderhouse officiated. "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Ilene Nielsen and Carlita Price was the organist. Casketbearers were Pat Moore, Jack Wehrman, Marvin Oltmans, Laverne Clabaugh, Floyd Zimmerman, Charles Larison, Don Meyer and Pete Nielsen. Military rites were performed by the Superior American Legion and V.F.W. Posts. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior. Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
