Eiel lived in the Osage, Iowa, area, attended and graduated from Osage High School. He earned a bachelor's degree at Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa. Jan. 4, 1947 he married Elizabeth Adkins. To this union were born two sons and two daughters. In 1947 the Eiels came to Superior to make their home. He began the Superior Ice Cream Store and Superior Locker and later owned and operated Keith Eiel Motors. In 1976 the couple moved to San Antonio, Texas, to live. Because of failing health, Eiel moved to Adel, Iowa, in 1991 to be closer to his family. While in Superior, Eiel was a member of the Eagles Lodge, a charter member of the Elks Lodge, a member of the Superior Country Club and Chamber of Commerce and served on the Superior school board. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, March 9, 1980, and son, John, in 1968. Survivors include one son, David, West Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Martha Dobry, Sumner, Neb., and Margaret Barnett, Galveston, Texas; one brother, Robert, Milton, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
