Description	:	Kemp Goodlow Herren, son of James David and Mary Louise Herren, was born at Huntsville, Logan county, Ohio, Jan 20, 1861, and departed this life Wednesday morning, Jan 24, 1923, at 12:20 o'clock, age 62 years and 4 days, at his home in New Market, Iowa, after a lingering illness of nine years, being stricken with paralysis, his last illness being only a few days. Read More	Kemp Goodlow Herren, son of James David and Mary Louise Herren, was born at Huntsville, Logan county, Ohio, Jan 20, 1861, and departed this life Wednesday morning, Jan 24, 1923, at 12:20 o'clock, age 62 years and 4 days, at his home in New Market, Iowa, after a lingering illness of nine years, being stricken with paralysis, his last illness being only a few days. He was a patient sufferer until the end, everything being "all right." He came with his parents from Ohio in 1868 to Rovana, Mercer county, Mo., and March, 1870, moved to Clarinda, Page county, Iowa, and has lived in this vicinity until his death. On Dec 8, 1892, he was united in marriage to Retta May Hiatt and unto this union four children were born, Mrs Walter Noble, Mrs Ray McNutt, Mrs Paul Clark and James David Herren, all of New Market, Iowa. Besides these four children he is survived by his wife, one brother, C.L. Herren of Clarinda, Iowa; five sisters, Mrs Henry Annan, Mrs Jesse McCowen of Clarinda, Iowa; Mrs Lottie Turner of Coin, Iowa; Mrs Catherine Wagner of New Market, Iowa, and Mrs J.L. Elgin of Des Moines, Iowa, besides a host of relatives and friends. Two brothers, Don Victor Herren, M.D., died at Corning, Calif, Jan 27, 1906, and Harley Herren, at Spokane, Wash, in March, 1917; also his mother and father preceded him in death. He was an earnest laborer, always trying to gain that he might give to others. During his late sickness he confessed Christ as his Savior, was baptized and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of New Market, Rev E. O. Smith being his pastor. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Methodist Episcopal church in New Market, conducted by Rev E.O. Smith, and the body was laid to rest in the Memory cemetery. Relatives were pall bearers as follows: Walter Noble, Ray McNutt, Paul Clark, sons-in-law; Frank Millhone, nephew by marriage; Jesse McCowen and William Butler, brothers-in-law.
