Read More	Clarinda Herald Journal May 1973 HOLLY LUCILLE HERREN CLARK Holly Lucille Herren, the third daughter of Retta Mae Hiatt Herren and Kemp Goodlow Herren was born September 12, 1901 in Page County between New Market and Clarinda and passed away at Eppley Care Center in Omaha on May 3, 1973. She attended grade schools in Page and Taylor Counties and high school in New Market. She was converted at age 16 at the Clogroves Evangelistic Meeting at the M E Church in New Market and became a member at the same time. She worked at Berry Seed Co in Clarinda and at Spurgeons store in Villisca before her marriage. On November 23, 1920 Holly was joined in marriage to Paul E Clark. One child, James Herren Clark, was born to the union. A niece, Joyce Herren Swan, was taken into the home on October 24, 1936 and was raised by Holly and Paul as their own. In this happy home, Holly and Paul celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, before his death on April 3, 1946. His passing was a sorrow from which Holly never fully recovered, but she lovingly carried on for the sake of her family. Her deep Faith in God enabled her to live a good, useful, Christian life. She was devoted to her family and was always ready to help others. She was indeed a friend to all who knew her and loved her. In the business of Clark Store, where she carried on after Paul's death, she was in partnership with Jim until failing health caused her to retire. She was a member of the United Methodist Church official board, Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, President of the WSCS, President of Past Matrons Club, and was a member of the White Shrine. She organized the 20th Century Club in New Market, which brought much happiness to many. She was treasurer and secretary of Memory Cemetery Association, and for many years was the Sunday School Superintendent of the Methodist Church. She leaves her son Jim, his wife Ardith, and their three children, Kenneth, Kevin, and Tonya. She also leaves her niece, Joyce and husband George and their children Parker, Cygnet, Terrence, Kelly, Lydia, and Francine. She leaves behind three great grand children Heather Swan, Erin Sergent, and Stacy Swan. She loved all these children dearly and was a good mother and grandmother. Other survivors are her sisters, Mrs. Zetta Noble of New Market and Mrs. Ruby McNutt of Omaha, a brother David Herren of Glassport, Pennsylvania, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Her favorite Bible verse was "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not on thine own understanding.
