Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Slater United Methodist Church. Rev. Jess Spurgin will officiate. Organist Bethany Weiker will play "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers will be Ron Venable, Mike Venable, George Stafford, Earl Meyer, Jack Thompson and Loyd French. Born Sept. 4, 1918 in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Nettie Anna Cook Lewellen. On March 9, 1946, in Slater, he married Mary Ann Cassaday, who survives of the home. He was a member of Slater United Methodist Church and a longtime resident of rural Slater before moving to Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post No. 78 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4367, both in Slater. He was a retired farmer. Additional survivors include two sons, Kenneth Lewellen of Marshall and Earl Lewellen of Wellington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Lewellen.
