He married Genevieve B. Harmon on July 27, 1938. She died September 5, 1987. He was a resident of Ottumwa all his life, was an employee of John Morrell & Co. for 16 years and John Deere Ottumwa Works for 22 years, retiring in 1974. He also farmed all his life and was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 74 and John Deere Retirees. He is survived by two sons, James and Joe of Ottumwa; a daughter, Candace Moore of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Gertrude Barnhart of Arizona and Lucille Walton of Texas. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Jon; a daughter, Phyllis Robertson; and two sisters, Mildred Benner and May Fowler. The service will be 3pm Friday at Reece Funeral Home, and Rev. Glen Springer officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9am Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8pm. Pallbearers will be Tom and Frank Box Jr., Klint and Kenny Boxx, and Lee and Flack Dignin. Memorials may be made to the Animal Relief League.
