Read More	KENNETH COONEY OF NODAWAY KILLED IN HEAD-ON COLLIOSION ACCIDENT WAS AT THERMOPOLIS, WYOMING BURIAL AT VILLISCA Word was received Friday afternoon by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cooney of southeast of Brooks informing them their son Kenneth, 23, was killed about noon that day in a head-on collision at Thermopolis, Wyoming. He was in the employ of Pers Rollins Building Contractor at Thermopolis and was hauling a load of gravel when the front wheel came off the new truck he was driving He was killed instantly, and the driver of the truck with which his truck collided was serious though not fatally injured. The cab of Kenneth's truck was mashed back into the driver's seat. BORN AT NODAWAY Kenneth was born July 19, 1926 near Nodaway, Iowa, and was a graduate of the Nodaway High School Class of 1946. He attended Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa and spent a year in South Dakota. He had been in Wyoming during the last two years. He was baptized and became a member of the Nodaway Methodist Church on Easter Sunday, in 1946. Surviving besides his parents, are two sisters, Mrs. Merle Greenfield of Villisca and Lola Jean Cooney of Brooks, and three brothers, Leonard of Nodaway, and Joe and John at home. One brother, Manford Lisle Cooney was killed while serving with the U. S. Navy in the southwest Pacific during the World War 2. There are also four nieces and a nephew and a grandmother, Mrs. Maude McCoy of Gravity. FUNERAL AT NODAWAY The body arrived here Monday forenoon and was taken to the Wolfe Funeral Home to await the funeral service which was held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Nodaway, conducted by the Rev. C. M. Rowe of Nodaway and the Rev. Mr. Cutler of Brooks. Ushers were Gerald March and Max Johnson and the pall bearers were Harold O'Riley, Jim Pierce, Tom and Bill Horton, Earl Shipley, and Virgil Johnson, classmates of Kenneth. The sining was by Mrs. Iola Hedger accompanied at the piano by Emma Jean March and in charge of the flowers were Mrs. James Shipley and Joyce Johnson. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery.
