Description	:	Kenneth E. Hartig, 77, of Beatrice died Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1935, at Hollenberg, Kan. He attended High School in Linn, Kan., and Beatrice, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1953-1956, and served on the USS Kidd Destroyer in Japan, China and Formosa. He married Marjorie Hagemeier on April 6, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Soap Creek), DeWitt, Neb. He married Marjorie Hagemeier on April 6, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Soap Creek), DeWitt, Neb. He worked for Kees Mfg. for a short time, then Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Beatrice from 1957-1965. He then worked from 1965 to 1996 at Cominco Fertilizers, which later became Agrium Inc., as a shift supervisor. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice, where he served as a trustee and was a member of the Social Club, the Geddes Thober Post 1077 of the VFW, American Legion Post #27, the Eagles Aerie 531. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, attending their sporting activities, tinkering on machinery, making crafts, and the monthly get-togethers of Agrium employees. Survivors include his wife Marjorie; sons, Jeff and wife Loraine of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jim and wife Cindy of Beatrice, John of Beatrice; grandchildren, Nick Hartig of Sioux Falls S.D., Kristin Hartig and friend Dan Corey of Boothwyn, Pa., Caley Hartig and friend Brent Menke of Lincoln, Dalton, Quintin and Collin Hartig, all of Beatrice; sister, Ida Green of Ralston, Neb.; brother-in-law, Larry Hagemeier and wife Dayna of Juniata, Neb., Norma Maschmeier and husband Ron of Beatrice, Bob Hagemeier of Beatrice, and Mary Cox of Lincoln; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Erna (Lohse) Hartig, parents-in-law Harvey and Evelyn Hagemeier, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Gladys Hagemeier, niece Lisa Hinrichs and nephew Jared Hagemeier. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice, with Pastor Douglas Irmer, officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m. in the church basement. Burial with Military Rites by the American Legion Post #27, Beatrice, and the U.S. Navy will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary Thursday 1 p.m-9 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. A memorial is established to the family's choice with Carol and Stewart Weber and Lyla and Ralph Valentine in charge.
