Kenneth Eldon Fitzgerald Sr., 63, of 1114 Preston Drive died Friday (Dec. 14, 1984) at 4 p.m. in King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born on Jan. 16, 1921 in Buena Vista, a son of Wilmer E. and Nannie Jennings Fitzgerald. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy. He retired as staff manager of Southland Life Insurance Co. after 22 years of service, where he was a member of the 20-year club. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, American Legion Post 126 of Buena Vista, Central United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Class of the church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Margaret Hostetter Fitzgerald; two sons, Kenneth E. Fitzgerald Jr. and Russell Blair Fitzgerald of Staunton; one daughter, Miss Karen Ann Fitzgerald of Staunton, and two grandchildren. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Henry Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. A. Wade Munford. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista. Pallbearers will be Darrell Staton, Eldon Staton, Gerald Staton, Barry Staton, Keith Staton, Jack Whitesell, Robert Dickinson, Edward Floyd and Kenneth (Tre) Fitzgerald III. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wesley Fellowship Class of Central United Methodist Church, Curtis Flint, Clayton Hammond, Wilbur Staton, Toby Hostetter, Edward Hostetter and David Showker III.
