Description	:	WWII Korean War Kenneth H. Johnson, 85 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice Thursday night, April 30, 2009. He was born on December 19, 1923 at Rulo, NE. to Archie and Mary (Mather) Johnson. He was a 1941 graduate of Beatrice High School. He was born on December 19, 1923 at Rulo, NE. to Archie and Mary (Mather) Johnson. He was a 1941 graduate of Beatrice High School. Kenneth served his country in the Infantry of the United States Army during World War 2 (February 26, 1943 until November 19, 1945) and during the Korean Conflict (September 8, 1950 until September 25, 1951). He and Rosanna Kennedy were married on August 7, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa. He was the owner of Ken's IGA in Peru, NE. from 1969-1979 when they moved to Beatrice. He had also been the store manager of the former Umphenour grocery store in Beatrice. Kenneth was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice; Beatrice Lodge #26, A.F. & A.M.; and the Sesostris Temple of the Shrine. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, watching and feeding wildlife, and his numerous pets. Survivors include 2 sons, Ted Johnson and Brad Johnson and wife Diane, all of Beatrice; 4 grandchildren, Thomas Johnson and wife Michelle, Clinton, Matthew and Kindra Johnson; 1 great grandson Broden Johnson; 1 brother Leo Johnson and wife Winnifred of Odell, NE.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Mary (Mather) Johnson; and wife Rosanna (December 26, 2006). Memorial: A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Humane Society with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. Cemetery: Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitations: The body will lie in state Monday from 10-7:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel. Services: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Kelly Karges officiating. Military graveside services will be provided by the Bitting-Norman Post #27, American Legion in Beatrice and Masonic graveside services will be provided by the Beatrice Lodge #26, A.F. & A.M.
