Skokan, age 72, of Tyndall, South Dakota will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Niobrara Lutheran Church in Niobrara, Nebraska. Ken died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. Kenneth James Skokan was born February 11, 1946, in Lynch, Nebraska to George and Evelyn A. (Soucek) Skokan. He was raised in Niobrara, Nebraska, and graduated from high school in the Class of 1964. Ken enjoyed and played in sports, chorus, and band while attending high school. He was baptized and confirmed in the Niobrara Lutheran Church and attended Luther League. Kenneth was married to Sharon Larson in 1966, and to this union two children were born, Morgan and Matthew. The couple later divorced. In 1990, he married Lou Ann Ahrens and they later divorced. On May 1st, 2004, Kenneth was married to Lynn J. Stewart. Even though they divorced in 2013, they still remained friends. Kenneth worked in sales, the lumber business, and owned a lumberyard in Wisconsin and was also a rep for building and construction products for many years. In the recent past he studied and earned a ministerial certificate. Kenneth held bible studies at the prison in Springfield, South Dakota. He truly enjoyed preaching at Alpine Village in Verdigre, Nebraska and talking with the residents there, many of which he knew from growing up in Niobrara. In the last few years, Kenneth enjoyed his faithful dog, Buddy. Kenneth is survived by his children, Morgan Skokan of Houston, TX, (Kiara and Josh) and Matthew Skokan of St. Paul, MN, (Tristan, Dylan and Chloe); sister-in-law, Marjorie Skokan, Sioux City, IA; brother, George A. (Mary) Skokan, Yankton, SD; sister, Mary Ann (Richard) Tramp, Townsend, MT; and nieces and nephew. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and George Skokan; and brother, Dennis D. Skokan.
