Read More	Welcome to the memorial page for KENNETH JAMES LAXTON July 19, 1932 ~ January 26, 2017 (age 84) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Kenneth James Laxton, 84, of Broken Bow, left this life, on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Broken Bow Health and Rehab. Kenneth was born on July 19, 1932, in Golden, Oklahoma, the son of James Laxton and Lilly Murrell Laxton. Kenneth was one of seven children. He grew up in Mt. Herman, hunting, fishing, farming and raising hogs,cattle and sheep. At the age of 20 he joined the military and he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Medic. Kenneth was stationed in Washington and Oregon until he was Honorably Discharged on January 13, 1955. He lived in Oregon until moving back to Oklahoma in 1975. After retirement Kenneth was a longtime resident of the Alpaca Retirement Center in Broken Bow. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his friends. In his later years he became very interested in politics and was quick to let you know who to vote for and who to vote out. He was an avid Broken Bow Savage, Oklahoma Sooner and Cowboy fan. The family is extremely grateful for all the help given to Kenneth by his extended family in and around Broken Bow. Kenneth's life was much richer for their involvement. He is gone now but will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Dad. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lilly Laxton; sisters, Christine Laxton Milson and Louise Laxton Baker and brother, Dearl Laxton. He is survived by the mother of his children, Wilma Byrom, of Shedd, Oregon; his children, Mamie Laxton Hobbs of Albany, Oregon, Keith Laxton of Corvallis, Oregon, Dearl Laxton of Albany, Oregon and Linda Bivins of Glendale, Arizona; sisters Virginia Laxton Pedrola of Idabel, Oklahoma and Nema Laxton Rose of Halsey, Oregon; brother, Donald Laxton of Miami, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Broken Bow Cemetery with the Bro. Melvin Baker officiating.
