Description	:	Memorial services for Kenneth Kirk Kennedy, 85, of Villisca, Ia, will be held Friday December 20, 1991, at 2 pm at the Nodaway Methodist Church in Nodaway, Ia, with the Rev Kevin Glesener officiating. (Kenneth), son of Edward "Ted" and Grace Kirk Kennedy, was born December 13, 1906, on a farm south of Nodaway, Ia, and died December 13, 1991, at the Good Samaritan Center in Villisca, Ia. Upon graduation from Nodaway High School in 1924, he attended Parsons College in Fairfield. He received a bachelor of science degree in 1928 and was named All State Football Conference guard. It was a football game against Tulsa University that gave K.K. his first glimpse of the oil industry and led him to Oklahoma and Texas in the late 1920's. He worked for Phillips Petroleum until 1940 when he started his own oil field construction company. K.K. married Verna Winter of Villisca in 1932. They raised two children, Kay Don and Carol Jo in Oklahoma City. They returned to Iowa in 1962 to farm south of Nodaway until his retirement. In Oklahoma City he was co-founder of the East Side Chamber of Commerce, a member of Christ Methodist Church and its building committee. He was a member of the Nodaway Methodist Church, a Shriner and a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife; son K.D. and wife Cathie of Tucson, Az; daughter Carol Jo Williams and husband J.D. of Alexandria, Va; grandchildren, Walter H. Williams of Los Angeles, Ca, and Sarah Louise Williams of Deerfield, Ma; sister, Josephine Fabricius and husband Martin of Osage, Ia; and niece, Carl Fabricius Cox and husband David of Ames.
