Description	:	BOYES, KENNETH LAVERNE—Kenneth Laverne Boyes was born west of Geneva to Thomas W. and Adeline (Muchow) Boyes on November 14, 1921. He passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital on February 9, 1986, at the age of 64 years and 3 months. He was one of six children. Read More	BOYES, KENNETH LAVERNE—Kenneth Laverne Boyes was born west of Geneva to Thomas W. and Adeline (Muchow) Boyes on November 14, 1921. He passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital on February 9, 1986, at the age of 64 years and 3 months. He was one of six children. Kenneth was baptized by Pastor Wietzke of the Lutheran Church south of Grafton when he was one month old. He was confirmed by Pastor Vollmers June 21, 1936, at Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva and served his Lord and Savior throughout his lifetime. He served Grace Lutheran as a financial secretary and a trustee for many years. He attended rural schools in Shickley and Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1939. He joined the C.C. Camp at Beaver City and worked there as did many other young men during the Depression. Later he entered the armed forces and served with the 91st Infantry Division for 3 ½ years, starting in September of 1942. He served in Italy, and Oran, Africa until 1945. He then returned home and worked for his brother-in-law at Dan’s 66 Station in Sutton. He was united in marriage to Elaine Manthei at Belleville, Kas., on April 25, 1946. Their union was blessed with four sons and one daughter. After their marriage, Kenneth went into the farming business east of Sutton for several years. He then moved to Geneva and continued farming until his death. Ken enjoyed watching sports of any kind, especially Nebraska football on Saturdays. He loved to work on his home and tinker in his shop. He enjoyed the time spent visiting with friends at the coffee shop. His family and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; one infant son, Gary; two nieces; and a brother-in-law. Kenneth Boyes is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons, Tom and wife Kathy, of York, Ron and wife, Cindy of Geneva, and Robert and wife Joyce of Geneva; and one daughter, Debra of Geneva. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Richard, Jennifer, and Anthony; Jessica and Ginger; Chad and Nickalaus; one brother, Charles and wife, Nadine, of Syracuse; two sisters, Lola and husband, Gerald Manthei, of Fairmont and Helen Sorgenfrei of Sutton; and several nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 12, at Grace Lutheran Church of Geneva. Pastor Stuart Zak officiated the services and interment was at the Geneva Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Dockter, Stuart Gratopp, don Moravec, Dean Stoldorf, Theodore Petersen, and Waldo Schinzel. The Nebraska Signal February 1986
