Description	:	BOYES, THOMAS WILLIAM—Thomas William Boyes was born in Goehner, Seward county, Neb., March 21, 1893, a son of Thomas Boyes and his wife Sarah, nee Varby. At the age of five years he was baptized in the Methodist church at Goehner. At the age of 14 he moved to Fillmore County, Neb., where he was to spend the remained of his life. Read More	BOYES, THOMAS WILLIAM—Thomas William Boyes was born in Goehner, Seward county, Neb., March 21, 1893, a son of Thomas Boyes and his wife Sarah, nee Varby. At the age of five years he was baptized in the Methodist church at Goehner. At the age of 14 he moved to Fillmore County, Neb., where he was to spend the remained of his life. January 29, 1918, he was united in holy wedlock with Miss Adeline Muchlow. This marriage was blessed with six children. Four survive Mrs. Helen Sorgenfrie of Sutton, Kenneth Boyes of Shickley, Chalres Boyes of Fairmont, and Mrs. Lola Mae Manthei of Sutton. Two sons preceded him in death in their infancy. His parents also predeceased him. In 1921 Mr. Boyes renewed his baptismal covenant with the Lord at the rite of confirmation. He was instructed and confirmed by Pastor W. F. Weitzke, then of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Grafton. A number of years later he was privileged to be a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran church in Geneva. He remained a member of this church the rest of his life, serving it in various capacities. He was a member of the board of elders for nine years, and also served the congregation as its chairman for a number of years. The health of Mr. Boyes had been failing for about two years. He became bedfast May 28 of this year. His Heavenly Father saw fit to call him to his eternal rest July 30, 1952, at 10:30 a. m. He attained the age of 59 years, 2 months and 9 days. The cause of death was cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, four children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 2 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Wilson of Geneva and Mrs. Ryel of Waukegan, Ill., a half-brother, Phillip Boyes of Omaha, also one aunt, and other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran church in Geneva The pastor, Rev. Grummert, officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Pallbearers were Urban Becker, Federal Bridgman, Leonard Eifert, George Bordner, Ben Tobiassen and William Gratopp. The Fillmore Chronicle August 7th, 1952 page 1.
