Pallbearers were Pat Connors, Jim Holmes, Brad Lemkau Tom Shull, Chuck Holman, Kim Hughes, Elroy Pierce and Bob Whitechill. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Bowman, Ed Brownson, Jim Burick, Darwin Fichter, Jack Grable, Howard Glascow, Russ Jackson, Bob Mather, Duane, Maher, John Thomas and Pete Voitenko. Williams-Jobe-Gibson American Legion Post #128 conducted the military rites. Interment was in the Sidney cemetery. Kenneth Leroy "Jack" Hodges, 74, the son of Roy C. and Lessie L. (Ungry) Hodges, was born at Sidney, IA, on August 5, 1925. He grew up in Sidney and was educated there, graduating in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army in October 1943 and was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He served in the Pacific theater of operations in the battles at Luzon, South Philippines and New Guinea, receiving three Bronze Stars in each of these actions. He returned to Sidney in 1946 after his discharge from active duty. On September 12, 1946, he married Betty Ann Riley in Shenandoah, IA. They lived in Sidney before moving to Farragut in 1948. After returning from t he service, he worked briefly for the Iowa Department of Transportation, after which he joined his father-in-law working as a brick mason, which he continued to do for the rest of his life, and founded Hodges Construc-owned and operated the Farragut Tavern from 1950-1963. Mr. Hodges was a member of the Williams-Jobe-Gibson American Legion Post #128 of Sidney and a former member of the Elks Lodge in Shenandoah. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Max Hall; two infant sons, John Lee and Michael Patrick; two infant daughters, Tana Sue and Trudy Marie; and a granddaughter, Gabriel Goodall. Survivors include his wife Betty, and his children, Kathy Ketcham and husband Jerry of Shenandoah, Susan McLaren and husband Dennis of Farragut, Pat Hodges and wife Doreen of Shenandoah, Tammy Waitt and husband Chauncey of Omaha, NE, and Mike Hodges and wife Patricia of Farragut. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Kristi Murphy and husband Kelly of Elkhorn, NE, Nicki Oss and husband Todd of Sioux City, IA, Dusti and Mandi Ketcham, May and Kasey McLaren, Jeremy and Kendra Hodges, Gabe Goodall and wife Lily of Omaha, Rusty Goodall, Kelly Hodges, Eric, Nick and Brock Hodges and Chris Vocelka; great grandchildren, Jordan and Skylar Murphy, Gaylin and Alicia Goodall and Joseph Hodges; and a sister-in-law, Sally Connors of Shenandoah.
