Description	:	Kenneth Peterson, 88, of Mesa, AZ and LaMoure, ND, passed away at his residence in Mesa on June 10, 2016. Kenneth Rodney, son of Oscar Persiville and Elsie (Haas) Peterson was born January 4, 1928 at home near Berlin, North Dakota. Oscar, Kenneth’s father, purchase a farm near Berlin in 1944. Kenneth attended Berlin school thru the 8th grade and then farmed with his father. Kenneth met Virginia Christ at a basketball game in Berlin, where she was a teacher. Kenneth Rodney, son of Oscar Persiville and Elsie (Haas) Peterson was born January 4, 1928 at home near Berlin, North Dakota. Oscar, Kenneth’s father, purchase a farm near Berlin in 1944. Kenneth attended Berlin school thru the 8th grade and then farmed with his father. Kenneth met Virginia Christ at a basketball game in Berlin, where she was a teacher. They were married on June 10, 1951. After their honeymoon in Yellowstone Park, they settled into the house on the Peterson farm. Kenneth and Virginia were very hard workers and provided for and raised their family of seven children. Kenneth, knowing that Virginia was an excellent cook, sometimes invited a salesman whom happened to arrive at the farm at noon, into the house to join the family for dinner. Kenneth was honored to have shipped out the first load of corn from the Berlin Elevator. He was known as the “Mr. King” for growing wheat. He enjoyed driving International tractors before deciding to switch to John Deere farm equipment. After retirement, Kenneth and Virginia enjoyed spending winters in their home in Mesa, Arizona and summers in LaMoure. Kenneth served on the Berlin School Board for several years until the school closed. He also served on the Land O Lakes Creamery Board in LaMoure. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia; seven children, Michael Peterson, Diana (Michael) Kramer, Donna (Kevin) Jacobson, Vickie (Dan) Rood, Steven (Carol) Peterson, Betty (Steven) Huber and Pauline (Rueben) Rascon; 18 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure. His funeral service will be Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, followed by his burial in the Grand Rapids Cemetery.
