Description	:	HEMINGWAY - Mrs. Kenneth Huggins Brown, 73, widow of Walter B. Brown, died in a Florence Hospital Thursday, June 6, 1968, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at 5:30pm Friday in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. C. H. Boulware. Burial followed in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born in Hemingway, the daughter of William James Timmons Huggins and Minnie Grier Huggins,a member of a pioneer family in the Old Johnsonville area. Brown, died in a Florence Hospital Thursday, June 6, 1968, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at 5:30pm Friday in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. C. H. Boulware. Burial followed in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born in Hemingway, the daughter of William James Timmons Huggins and Minnie Grier Huggins,a member of a pioneer family in the Old Johnsonville area. She was the grand daughter of George Samuel Briley and Elizabeth Timmons Huggins. She graduated from Old Johnsonville High School in 1913 and attended Winthrop College, working in the music department.She was a former governess and a retired school teacher and loved gardening and crossword puzzles. She was a gifted organist and pianist and in 1908, when she played at her grandfather's 78th birthday gathering she was described as "The organist, Kenneth Huggins, the little genius in music, plays beautifully, reading the notes solely by their position on the staff, observing accidentals, being able to transform correctly all without the aid of a music teacher." Mrs. Brown was a member of the Old Johnsonville Methodist Church, a church that her grandfather was a founder of in 1872. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. Morris of Germany;four sisters, Mrs J.D. Brown, Sr., Mrs. T. W. Edgeworth, Mrs W. W. Gibson, all of Hemingway and Mrs. Boyd Miller of Bennettsville; three grandchildren, Jay, Ken and Marty Morris.
