Kermit Felzien was born Nov. 19,1919, to Andrew and Mary (Dornhoff) Felzien on the family farm near Heartwell. Services were held at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Berke Landrum officiating. Kermit Felzien was born Nov. 19,1919, to Andrew and Mary (Dornhoff) Felzien on the family farm near Heartwell. He attended Heartwell District 47 and Palisade Public School and graduated from Minden High School. He managed the Texaco and Firestone service stations and also attended community colleges. On Jan. 5, 1941, he married Winifred Werth. They moved to California, where he worked as a welder at California Terminal Island Shipyards and at Reams Water Heater Co. He served in the U.S. Army with the 3rd Army as a tank commander in the European Theatre during World War II. In 1946, they returned to the Minden area and had a farming and cattle feeding operation east of Minden until retiring. They moved into Minden in 1979 and spent the winters in Mesa, Ariz., from 1982-97. He was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, serving as church trustee and chairman of the Building Committee. He served on the Minden Board of Education, County Extension and Township boards, Farmers Union Board, Nebraska College of Agri Advisory Council and Nebraska South Central Station Advisory Committee. He also was a member of Minden Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Survivors are his wife; one son, Kent of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; one daughter, Joy Phillips of Minden; seven grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Boyd; and one brother.
