Description	:	Kermit Tilman Thompson was born in Lake Preston on August 26, 1912, son of Thomas K. and Bertha M. Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed in the North Preston Lutheran church and grew to manhood on the family farm. In 1936 he went to California where on June 25, 1939, he was married to Irene Olson at Bakersfield. During World War 2 he served for three years as a member of the Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in the Aleutian Islands and on the island of Tinian. In 1938 he began working for an oil company, and worked in its drilling... Read More	Kermit Tilman Thompson was born in Lake Preston on August 26, 1912, son of Thomas K. and Bertha M. Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed in the North Preston Lutheran church and grew to manhood on the family farm. In 1936 he went to California where on June 25, 1939, he was married to Irene Olson at Bakersfield. During World War 2 he served for three years as a member of the Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in the Aleutian Islands and on the island of Tinian. In 1938 he began working for an oil company, and worked in its drilling department until his retirement in December, 1968. He moved back to his farm north of Lake Preston at that time. He suffered a stroke November 22 and was hospitalized until his death on Tuesday of last week. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. He is survived by his widow; one son, Terry; three sisters, Kalma Olson, Lake Preston, Evelyn Freisen, Casper Wyo., and Mathilda Moen, Wichita Falls, Tex.; two brothers, Leonard and Myron of Lake Preston. Funeral services were held Friday at Lake Preston Lutheran church, the Rev. Leroy Iseminger officiating. Burial was in Lake Preston city cemetery. Lake Preston Times – Dec. 17, 1970
