Description	:	Thomas K. Thompson was born April 26, 1870, and passed away suddenly at his home north of Lake Preston Monday, June 1, 1942, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 5 days. Thompson was born April 26, 1870, and passed away suddenly at his home north of Lake Preston Monday, June 1, 1942, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 5 days. He was the only son of Knud and Kjerste Thompson. He was born aboard ship as his parents immigrated to America from Gol Hollingdahl, Norway. They came west to the Mississippi river and settled near Waukon, Iowa. He was baptized in infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Washington Prairie church near Waukon. He was a member of the North Preston Lutheran church until the time of his death. In 1892 he came to South Dakota where he homesteaded near Chamberlain. He came to this vicinity in 1898 where he has resided ever since. On July 3, 1906, he was united in marriage to Bertha Mathilda Strande. The union was blessed with seven children, all of whom survive with the exception of a daughter who passed away in infancy. His wife preceded him in death in 1915 and he was left to care for the six small children. As a kind and loving father he undertook the talk of keeping together his little family. On March 27, 1929, he was married to Amanda England, and in 1933 they moved to their present home. He enjoyed good health until last summer when a heart condition forced him to give up his active work. Since January he has been confined to his bed most of the time, staying several weeks at the homes of his sons, Leonard and Myron, while Mrs. Thompson was confined to a hospital. As soon as she felt strong enough, he returned home where she did all that loving hands could do to make his last days with us as cheerful as possible. A good husband and father, Mr. Thompson was a home-loving man and will be greatly missed by all. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Mrs. Amanda Thompson, three daughters and three sons; four sisters; three grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Friday from the Myron Thompson home at 1:30 and from the North Preston Lutheran church at 2 o’clock. Burial was in the church cemetery.
