Description	:	Knud B. Solberg was born to Knud and Anna (Carter) Solberg on July 11, 1929 in Sioux Falls, S.D. He attended District 83 Country School Salem Township in Turner County for grade school. He graduated from Centerville High School class of 1948 where he excelled in track, football and basketball. Solberg was born to Knud and Anna (Carter) Solberg on July 11, 1929 in Sioux Falls, S.D. He attended District 83 Country School Salem Township in Turner County for grade school. He graduated from Centerville High School class of 1948 where he excelled in track, football and basketball. He attended SDSU his freshmen year and then enlisted in the Army, serving in the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged in November 1953. Loving the quiet country life, he returned to the family homestead in Turner County to farm. In fall of 1956, he married Edna Ahrendt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clayton, S.D. They were married for 43 years until her death in 2000. Knud and Edna were parents of five daughters who loved them dearly. As the family expanded to include son-in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the accomplishments of each generation continuing in tradition on military service, agricultural life, education and family values made him proud. In addition to farming, Knud was employed by Wilson Trailer Company for 23 years as welder and fabricator and was active in Freeman VFW, serving as commander from 2005 through 2008. Knud had an endless curiosity on how things worked, mechanical or electrical. He enjoyed learning new technology, computers, photography and the internet. He was also an avid reader of history especially military history. He is survived by his five daughters: Ann (Edison) Jared of Mission Hill, S.D., Karen(Guy) Bock of Yankton, S.D., Patricia (Patrick) Zavadil of Fordyce, Neb., Sandra Solberg of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kim Solberg of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings.
