Read More	--- Harlan Tribune Harlan, Iowa Tuesday November 13, 2001 Page 11A Lagina Rita Mayne, 90 March 2, 1911 - Oct. 10, 2001 HARLAN - Lagina Rita Mayne, daughter of Gilbert Grant and Elizabeth Gertrude Kaufman Musselman, was born March 2, 1911, in Neola. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola. She graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School June 2, 1929. Rita, as she was often called, was then employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, working in the Neola and Council Bluffs offices. After 37 years with the telephone company, she retired in 1966. Dec. 28, 1967, she married Gayther Mayne at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola. After their marriage, they made their home in Harlan where Gayther was employed by Lyon Plumbing and Heating. After his retirement in 1974, they continued to live in Harlan. Since moving to Harlan, she had been a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. In June of 1985, Gayther became a resident of Elm Crest Retirement Community where he died Aug. 27, 1985. She continued to make her home in Harlan across the street from the post office. After suffering a stroke in March, 1994, she made her home with her niece, Sheila Ring in Neola, for two years, then became a resident of Rose Vista Care Facility in Woodbine, Jan. 8, 1996. It was here that she died Oct. 19, 2001, at age 90 years, seven months and 17 days. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Estella Koenig and Marie Patten, and two brothers, Cornelius Musselman and Joseph Musselman. Survivors include one nephew, Alvin Patten of Council Bluffs; five nieces, Jean L. Thomas of Norfolk, NE; Sheila Ring of Neola; Gloria A. Swenka of Solon; Nancy L. Bartholomew of Ontario, CA and Betty L. Patterson of Ontario, CA, and other relatives. Funeral services were held Oct. 22, 2001, at Pauley Funeral Home with Rev. Jack McClure C.P.P.S. officiating. Burial was at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola, with Fred Ring, Keever Sweenka, Greg Ring, Jeremy Ring, Donnie Smith, Joshua Ring, Ray Kloewer and Lee Ring casket bearers. ---
