Who Can Fill These Shoes There was a certain walk - more like a run that could be recognized by many, Belonging to a man of integrity whose gift of service was never denied to any. Whether it be a stranger in an accident or a house fire during the night, Or a fellow farmer fighting to get his crops in while the weather was good and there was still enough light. When there was a need to get your hands dirty and roll up your sleeves to complete a task, He seemed to be the first in line to volunteer, usually without even being asked. Whether it be the annual barbeque, his beloved church, the university, or his National Guard friends. If efforts were made to list his kind deeds, it would be difficult to know where to begin. He was a loving husband and father, faithful brother, and a devoted son, Who was admired and respected by everyone and criticized by none. A pillar of the community with a multitude of friends, Who found him to be trustworthy and someone on whom they could depend. Bet he'd find these accolades embarrassing and say, "There's no praise due, I've only done what God expects and what I'd been taught to do" "Just a simple man who loved my family and a little yappy pet, Who tried to squeeze in all the hunting, racing, and sports that I could get." "I loved a good laugh, a witty joke and visiting at the grill, But I was nothing special and my shoes will not be hard to fill."
