Farrell, the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Marsh Ferrell, was born Nov. 8, 1876, on the Ferrell homestead in Jackson county, Ks., and departed this life Aug. 22, 1968 at the age of 91. He was one of seven children: three brothers, Dick, Curt and John, and three sisters, Dola, Roxalana and Mary, all of whom preceded him in death. At Arrington, Ks., on Oct. 18, 1896, he was united in marriage with Ethel May Hosler by the Rev. W. Z. Hubbard. She preceded him in death on March 20, 1943. To this union were born four sons, John V. Ferrell and Eugene Ferrell, Valley Falls; Robert Ferrell, Holton, and Millard Ferrell, Topeka, Ks. Early in life he became a member of the Methodist church South, the former Gragg Chapel, and later transferred his membership to the United Methodist church in Valley Falls. With the exception of a few years in business in Valley Falls, he was a farmer in Jackson and Jefferson counties. After retiring from active farming he lived in the homes of his children. He was stricken in May of this year at the home of the son in Topeka, then was confined to his bed in Winchester hospital, and until his death came at the Valley View Home in Valley Falls. Other than his immediate family he is survived by 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. A loving Father, grandfather, uncle and faithful friend has gone to his reward. May the remembrance of his many deeds of kindness and his words of encouragement be a beacon light to those left, leading them on along a similar path of service to their fellow man. Funeral services were conducted at the United Methodist church, Valley Falls, Saturday, Aug. 24,1968, with the Rev. William Hurtig officiating. Mrs. Raymond Lassiter was the soloist and Mrs. Geo. McCracken the organist. Pallbearers were grandsons. Burial was in the Valley Falls cemetery beside his wife, under the direction of the Hagge Funeral Home, Valley Falls.
