Mr. Perkins, 59, of Pitkin entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in Kinder. He was born on December 16, 1946 to the union of Ed Perkins and Alice Doyle Perkins in Oakdale. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the Ten Mile Hunting Club and a friend to everyone. He also worked for the Calcasieu Paper Mill for nine years, offshore crane operator for fourteen years with the Teledyne Moveable Offshore, Huthnance Drilling Company and Global Marine. He remained active in home gardening, farming and community service. Mr. Perkins was a loving father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Alice Perkins, two brothers, Alvin Perkins and Gary Dewayne Perkins, Sr. Mr. Perkins leaves behind to cherish his memories, one daughter, Candy Coker of Pitkin; one son, Jonathan B. Perkins of Pitkin; two sisters, Ezelene Perkins Strother and husband, Harold Strother of Pitkin and Dorothy Perkins Knapp and husband, the late James Knapp of Pitkin; two grandchildren, Dimikol R. Coker of Pitkin and Karley Perkins of Pitkin; one nephew, Gary Dewayne Perkins, Jr; four nieces; Special friend, Peggy Byrd of Oakdale and former wife, Noel Baker Perkins of Pitkin. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Dean Doyle, C.T. Doyle, Buck Johnson, Tootie Paul, Lynn Doyle, Brandon Sweat and Randy McDaniel.
