Hiatt was born February 19, 1850, near Primrose, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Birmingham, Iowa, Saturday evening, August 4, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 16 days. She was married September 25, 1875, to James Corry, and they made their home on a farm near Birmingham until her husband’s death. Read More	Mrs. Laura E. Bryant Laura E. Hiatt was born February 19, 1850, near Primrose, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Birmingham, Iowa, Saturday evening, August 4, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 16 days. She was married September 25, 1875, to James Corry, and they made their home on a farm near Birmingham until her husband’s death. To this union were born four children, Clyde, Marie, Frank and Leslie. Her son Clyde died in infancy and her husband in 1889. Her father, mother, four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. She was married the second time to John M. Bryant, who preceded her in death many years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss, her three children of Birmingham, three grandchildren, Maynard Corry of Hillsboro, Iowa, Richard and Jack Corry of Birmingham; three great-grandchildren, Shirley and Janet Corry of Hillsboro, and Richard Corry, Jr., of Birmingham. She is also survived by four step-children, Chester E. Corry of Los Angeles, Calif., W. C. Bryant of Vermillion, S. D., Jay Bryant of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Ella Huffman of Sheridan, Wyoming. She was attended during her last illness by her children and many kind and helpful relatives and friends, who came to cheer and shorten the weary hours. She united with the Congregational church at 14 years of age, and later when moving to Birmingham, became a member of the Presbyterian church February 19, 1876. Since the death of her friend, Mrs. W. H. Hope, she has been the senior member of the congregation. Though in recent years unable to attend public worship because of frail health, she was a loyal faithful follower of the Master. She began to teach at the age of 15 years and taught for 10 years, carryi9ng on studies at the same time. She came to Birmingham in 1873 and studied in the college located here, at the same time teaching some of its classes. Mrs. Bryant was always a great lover of her home and her family, a tender and devoted mother, and her children will miss her more than words can express. Her life was filled with loving service and kind deeds. She deeply appreciated the fine and noble things of life and loved beauty and goodness. Through many years of frail health she exhibited great patience and gentleness. The funeral service was held at the home Monday afternoon, August 6, at 2:30, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. H. C. Irvine. Interment in the Maple Hill cemetery.
