Description	:	Funeral services for Laura E. Douglas Snodgrass were held December 3 at the Methodist Church in Emerson at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Delbert V. Terry officiating. Mrs. Richard Steen was the organist and accompanied Frederick Larson as he sang, Beyond the Sunset. Glen Confer, Jack Confer, William Douglas, Roger Douglas, and Wayne Spicer served as pall bearers. Caring for the floral offerings were Mrs. Raymond Douglas and Mrs. Sharon Hoover. Laura Estelle Ballain, daughter of Charles Ballain and Barbara Long, was born June 27, 1894 at the old homestead south of Emerson and passed away November 30, 1970 at Hillcrest Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa after an extended illness. December 10, 1913, she was united in marriage with Ora E. Douglas and they established a home southwest of Emerson where they lived for 19 years before moving into Emerson for 15 years before moving to California. She returned to Iowa after her husband's death in 1953. She resided in Glenwood for six years until her marriage to Ora Snodgrass in 1959 when they purchased a home in Council Bluffs. Mr. Snodgrass passed away in 1982. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edna Bowen, Palo Alto, California, Mrs. Pearle Ricks, Huntington Beach, California, and Mrs. Doris Pleyte, Los Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Mrs. Clarice Cardiff, Oakland; one brother, Charles Ballain, Malvern; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery where memorial service were given by Rebecca Lodge No. 3 of Council Bluffs. Malvern Leader, Malvern, Iowa, Thursday, December 10, 1970, page 4
