Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, May 4, 1950 MRS. JOHN REEVE DIED Mrs. John Reeve, 71, died early this morning at her home in the southeast part of Nelson. She had been a resident of this county for a large part of her life and had lived in Nelson for the past four years. She had been in failing health for about six years. Mr. Reeve preceded her in death on February 5, 1946. The immediate survivors are her three sons, Russell, Clem and Ross Reeve, all of Nelson; a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Noramczyk of Kankakee, Ill; and two brothers, Ernest Newton of Nelson and W. E. Newton of LaVerne, Minn. ======= The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, May 11, 1950 Laura Gertrude Newton, only daughter of Milton and Sarah Newton, was born Feb. 6, 1879 in Jasper county (sic), Iowa, and departed this life May 4, 1950 at her home in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 28 days. When she was a year old the family moved from Iowa to near Burwell, Nebraska. Elven years later they moved to the Nelson community where they lived four years before moving from here to Farragut, Iowa. Her mother passed away in 1906. December 12, 1906, she was united in marriage to John C. Reeve of keeping in Nelson. To this union Nelson and the couple began house- five children were born, ((NOTE: This is typing exactly as it appears in the newspaper) four of whom survive. They are Russell W., Clem N. and C. Ross of Nelson and Mrs. Kathryn Noramczyk of Kankakee, Illinois. A daughter, Marcella, passed away in 1938 and her husband in 1946. Her father and mother and one brother John also preceded her in death. Mrs. Reeve spent all her married life in the Nelson community. She was always thoughtful of others and concerned about the welfare of her children and loved ones. During all her years of suffering she never complained. She united in membership with the Nelson Methodist church (sic) in 1926 under the pastorate of Rev. V.R. Beebe. She enjoyed the church services, attending sometimes during the past few months when she was hardly able. Besides her three sons and one daughter she leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, W.E. of LaVerne, Minn., and Ernest M. of Nelson, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, May 5, at the Nelson Methodist church (sic), May 5, at the Nelson Methodist church (sic) by the pastor, Rev. E.B. Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. James Murphy, Mrs. Bertha Portwood and J.E. Portwood sang three numbers: "A City Four-square," "Face To Face," and "Sometime We'll Understand." Mrs. H.H. Hite played the accompaniment. Pallbearers were: Eli Larkin, Henry Meyer, Fred Lee, Tom Nickols, Melson Johnson and L.P. Rickard. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
