Description	:	Russell Wayne Reeve, son of John C. and Laura Gertrude (Newton) Reeve, was born September 25, 1907, in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away Monday, November 8, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 15 days. Read More	Russell Wayne Reeve, son of John C. and Laura Gertrude (Newton) Reeve, was born September 25, 1907, in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away Monday, November 8, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 15 days. At the age of five years he moved with his family to a farm 1 1/4 miles east of Nelson. He attended grade school at the Brown School District and graduated from Nelson High School in 1923. Russell farmed with his folks until September 7, 1929, when he married Audrey Williams and they moved to their home one mile east of Nelson. To this union were born five daughters, Shirley, Charlene, Gwendolyn, Bonnie and Marceline. He farmed until 1958 when he took a job with Farmers Union Oil Company of Nelson. In 1964 Russell and Audrey bought Obit Inn in Nelson and owned and operated it until 1971. After selling that business Russell worked as a carpenter with Guy Bruce. He was a member of the Brown School District School Board for a number of years; Precinct Assessor in Blaine Precinct for one year and a member of the Methodist Church in Nelson until 1987 until the churches in Nelson united and was then a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Russell was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, enjoyed reading and carpentry, loved music and his family was a highlight in his life. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Audrey on February 15, 1990; an infant daughter, Charlene; two brothers, Clem and Ross; two sisters, Kathryn Noramczyk and Marcella Reeve, one son-in-law, Leo Tracy; one grandson, Chris Reeves; and two great grandsons, Kenan and Logan Reeves. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Reeves and her husband Durward of Norton, Massachusetts, Gwendolyn Tracy of Erie, Colorado, Bonnie Vest and her husband Floyd of Greenwood, Nebraska, and Marceline Keim and her husband Moyn of Salina, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Reeve. Funeral services were held Friday, November 12, 1999, at 11 a.m., at Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Music was "In The Garden" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord" with Ruth Watts as soloist and Virginia Drohman as organist. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Douglas Reeves, Kevin Reeves, Michael Tracy, Jeffrey Tracy, Rick Vest, Randy Vest, Gregory Vest and Landon Keim. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne McClure, Ivan Troudt, Wilbur Williams, Kenneth Hamel and C.E. Bill Wehrman. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of arrangements.
