Mr and Mrs Arthur Yandle and daughter, Fern, drove down from their new home east of Parsons to attend the funeral of Mrs. Vanmiddlesworth Tuesday. Laura Josephine Warnock was born December 19, 1866 at Canton, Ills., and departed this life March 19, 1923 aged 56 years and 3 months. She was united in marriage to William Vanmiddlesworth on March 31, 1885, and to this union was born four children, all of whom survive her and were present to attend the last sad rites of their dear mother. The children are Mrs. Nellie Spur of Oswego, Mrs. Ida Lumm of Parsons, Miss May Vanmiddlesworth of Labette and John Vanmiddlesworth of Parsons. She also leaves nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Julie Wright of Leone, Iowa, and one brother, Charles Henry Warnock of Canton, Ills. She united with the M. E. Churh at Canton, Ills., in the year 1884. She moved to Labette in the year 1920, where she resided until she passed away. Her funeral was held at the M. E. Church Tuesday at two p. m., conducted by Rev. Cloninger of the Baptist church, and Bro. Pierce of the M. E. Church, after which she was laid away in a fine steel vault in the Labette cemetery. Mrs. Vanmiddlesworth was always a very busy woman and her place cannot easily be filled, but a very few homes in Labette but what have profited by her never tiring willingness to help others across the rough places during her residence in Labette.
