Watson passed away at her home southeast of Fairmont, Neb., Wednesday, February 5, 1941, after a week’s illness. Laura Katherine Hofrichter, the daughter of max and Catherine Hofrichter, was born February 10, 1870, in Chatsworth, Ill. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1886, settling at Bellwood. She was married to Charles J. Watson, September 29, 1891, and they came to Fillmore County in 1896. To this union four children were born. One daughter, Florence, died in infancy and the eldest daughter, Mrs. Ruth Taylor, died in 1936. Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband and two sons, Frank H. of Fairbury and Charles Lee of Fairmont. She also leaves four grandchildren, Marth Lee Taylor and Laura Jane Taylor of Polk; Richard Watson and Dorothy H. Watson of Fairbury; two sisters, Mrs. John Suddarth of Rising City, and Mrs. Carrie Law of Sedgwick, Cal., and one brother, Edward Hofrichter of Wood River. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Fairmont at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, February 7, with Rev. R. W. Sandstedt officiating, assisted by Rev. O. H. Albertson. Pallbearers were Dr. M. M. Akin, John A . Anderson, Willard Goodrich, George White, L. H. Real and C. C. McElvain. Burial was in the family lot in the Geneva cemetery. Kritner’s was in charge. Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Judge and Mrs. Edward F. Carter, Mrs. Marth Hofrichter, Misses Helene and Lucile Schemel, all of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carter, Miss Lois Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hofrichter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bowman and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Snyder, all of Bruning; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Suddarth, Mr. and Mrs. John Suddarth, Mr. and Mrs. Max Suddarth and Mrs. Pearl Suddarth, all of Rising City; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Watson, Richard and Dorothy Watson of Fairbury; Dr. and Mrs. W. S. Wiggins, Miss Florence Bergstrand and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foster, all of Exeter; and Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Roberts of Geneva. (Source: The Nebraska Signal, 13 February 1941, page 8)
