Description	:	McCORMICK, Laura May – Barrington, slipped peacefully into her final rest on May 9th, 2014, in Roseway Manor, Shelburne. Born in Grand Falls, NB on May 11th, 1931, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ward and Emma Burpee. Laura met and married the young Baptist minister who became the love of her life 61 years ago. She was a devout member of Temple United Baptist Church, Barrington Passage and active in the Women’s Mission Society and Temple Ladies Aid. Read More	McCORMICK, Laura May – Barrington, slipped peacefully into her final rest on May 9th, 2014, in Roseway Manor, Shelburne. Born in Grand Falls, NB on May 11th, 1931, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ward and Emma Burpee. Laura met and married the young Baptist minister who became the love of her life 61 years ago. She was a devout member of Temple United Baptist Church, Barrington Passage and active in the Women’s Mission Society and Temple Ladies Aid. Laura instilled in her children a sense of social responsibility, caring and curiousity that has served each of them and their communities well. She is survived by her husband, Roland; daughters, Marilyn, Fredericton, NB, and Patricia, Mulgrave; sons, Paul (Linda), Halifax and Peter (Patricia), Antigonish. She is also survived by her brother, Oran Burpee, of Hamilton, ON and predeceased by her sister, Winnifred (Burpee) Merritt. Her five grandchildren, Paige, Kelsey, Robert, Samuel and Timothy were a source of great pride and joy in her life. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A celebration of Laura’s life will be held in Temple United Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Marilyn McCormick officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the River Dale Cemetery, Riverhead. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Temple United Baptist Church, Roseway Manor or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The family would like to extend its thanks to the administration and staff of Roseway Manor for the excellent care, affection and respect shown to Laura in the final years of her life.
