Description	:	Laura May Gillan, daughter of John and Eliza Miller, was born in Newton, Ohio, December 29, 1869 and passed away in the Friend Annex February 16, 1962, having attained the age of 92 years, 1 month and 18 days. She came with her parents and two sisters to York County, Nebraska in 1881, where she resided until she moved to Exeter in 1917. She united with the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church August 9, 1895, just one year after the church had been finished and dedicated and in 1917 transferred to the Exeter Methodist Church. Read More	Laura May Gillan, daughter of John and Eliza Miller, was born in Newton, Ohio, December 29, 1869 and passed away in the Friend Annex February 16, 1962, having attained the age of 92 years, 1 month and 18 days. She came with her parents and two sisters to York County, Nebraska in 1881, where she resided until she moved to Exeter in 1917. She united with the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church August 9, 1895, just one year after the church had been finished and dedicated and in 1917 transferred to the Exeter Methodist Church. She was married to Robert L. Gillan February 16, 1887. They became the parents of eight children. Mrs. Gillan was a devoted mother, loved her home and it was a happy event for her to have all her children visit her Mother’s, May 14, 1961. That evening she suffered a severe heart attack and was admitted to the Friend Hospital where she was cared for until June 1st, at which time she was moved to the annex. Her loving life gave her a sacred place in the esteem of all who knew her. Preceding her in death were her husband, two daughters, parents and two sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Theda Krasser of Cordova, Mrs. Gladys Rasmussen of York and Mrs. Verna Lindsey of Concordia, Kansas; three sons, Olen and Clifford Gillan of Concordia, Kansas and Verne Gillan of Denver, Colorado, 17 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, three daughters-in-law, two son-in-law, other relatives and a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held Monday, February 19 at 2:30 o’clock in the Exeter Methodist Church, with Rev. Sherman Ragsdell officiating. Internment was in the Exeter Cemetery. The pallbearers were Olen Gillan, Clifford Gillan, Verne Gillan, Ray Lindsey, Rex Krasser and Don Rasmussen. Relatives and friends attending the services from a distance were Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Krasser, Mr. & Mrs. Rex Krasser, Arnold, Dianne, Paul, Kenneth, Deborah and Marcia of Cordova, Mrs. Jerry Bohaty of Beaver Crossing, Mr. & Mrs. Sterling Oetjen and Kay of Kansas City, Kansas, Mr. & Mrs. Olen Gillan, Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Gillan and Mr. & Mrs. Ray Lindsey of Concordia, Kansas, Mrs. Van Alexander of Topeka, Kansas, Mrs. Jerome Chandler of Sterling, Kansas, Mrs. Gladys Rasmussen, Mr. & Mrs. Don Rasmussen, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Rasmussen and Scott and Mrs. Fred Beaver of York, Mr. & Mrs. Verne Gillan, Gary and Judy of Denver, Colorado, Ross and Clyde Gillan of Seward, Mr. & Mrs. Bernard Gillan of Utica, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Miller of McCool, Earl Gillan of Lincoln, Mr. & Mrs. Chris Ziegler and Miss Ethel Gillan of Friend, Kenneth Gillan of Cordova, Mr. & Mrs. W.R.
