Description	:	Velma Gillan died at the home of her parents Mr. & Mrs. Robert Gillan on Mach 1st, 1906. The deceased was born in Saline County, Neb. on August 1, 1891. The cause of her death was appendicitis. There was nothing left undone by her kind and loving parents to relieve her suffering. The leading physicians of the country were called but of no avail. So, on Thursday night her pure spirit took flight to the great beyond. The deceased was a devoted active member Pleasant Ridge M.E. church. She was converted and joined the church about 4 years ago... Read More	Velma Gillan died at the home of her parents Mr. & Mrs. Robert Gillan on Mach 1st, 1906. The deceased was born in Saline County, Neb. on August 1, 1891. The cause of her death was appendicitis. There was nothing left undone by her kind and loving parents to relieve her suffering. The leading physicians of the country were called but of no avail. So, on Thursday night her pure spirit took flight to the great beyond. The deceased was a devoted active member Pleasant Ridge M.E. church. She was converted and joined the church about 4 years ago a meeting conducted by Rev. Wimberly, then the regular pastor. So, when death came and claimed this bright young flower as its own the Rev. Gentleman now located at Ord, Nebr., after receiving the intelligence that Velma was no more, left his home despite the fact that many of his household were sick at the same time and conducted the funeral services, which were held at the pleasant Ridge M.E. church March 3, 1906. It was said by those who heard the words of the Rev. gentleman that it was the most sympathetic funeral sermon ever delivered and the Rev. Gentleman received the congratulations of his numerous bearers for the honest and earnest way he delivered the sermon. After the services at the church the long funeral procession wended its way to the Exeter cemetery. With the usual service at the grave all that was mortal of Velma Gillan was laid to rest.
