Description	:	Glen Clifford "Cliff" Gillan, retired baker and prominent resident of Concordia since 1922, died suddenly Sunday evening. He was 67. Mr. Gillan came to Concordia from Nebraska in 1922 and with his brother, Olen, established the Gillan bakery which they operated for 40 years. He retired in 1962. Read More	Glen Clifford "Cliff" Gillan, retired baker and prominent resident of Concordia since 1922, died suddenly Sunday evening. He was 67. Mr. Gillan came to Concordia from Nebraska in 1922 and with his brother, Olen, established the Gillan bakery which they operated for 40 years. He retired in 1962. Mr. Gillan was active in civic affairs and served in many elective offices. He was city councilman for two terms when the city had mayor-city council form of government: was elected to two terms on the board of education of Concordia, school Dist. 4 and served six of the eight years as president of the board: he served several years as justice of the peace; director of the Concordia Chamber of Commerce; was general chairman in the drive for pledges when St. Joseph's hospital was built; and served two three terms as trustee of the Elks lodge. Mr. Gillan was a member of the Elks Lodge, all of the Masonic bodies in Concordia, and Isis Shrine at Salina. On April 18 of this year Mr. Gillan announced as a candidate for the office of county commissioner. Mr. Gillan was born May 23, 1901, in Corona, Neb., son of Robert and Laura Gillan. He was married March 13, 1919, to Irma Griffee at Seward, Neb. They lived in Exeter, Neb., where he worked in a bakery until they moved to Concordia in 1922. Mr. Gillan was preceded in death by his son Dale, who was killed in action in 1944, during World War II. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Humes, Concordia; LeRoy Gillan, Moberly, Mo.: Burton Gillan, Denver, Co.: ten grand-children and two great-grand-children; these brothers and sisters, Olen Gillan of Concordia, MRS. Gladys Rasmussen of York, Neb., Verne Gillan, of Denver, Colo., and Verna, now Mrs. Ray Lindsey of Concordia. Funeral services were at the Christian Church with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
