Interment was at National Cemetery, Vining. Laurence George Cherveny, the youngest of ten children, was the son of John and Anna Cherveny, born October 5, 1910 on the family farm near Clutier. He died March 26, 1977 following a lingering illness. He attended rural schools in Oneida Township where he was reared to manhood. As a young man he entered into a farming partnership with his father and his brother Charles. December 23, 1935, at Clinton, Iowa he was united in marriage to Leola Casey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Casey, Chelsea. In 1939 they purchased the parental John Cherveny farm southeast of Clutier which they continued to farm until the death of Mrs. Cherveny in 1966. In 1975 he moved to an acreage north of Belle Plaine where he continued to pursue his hobby of raising and showing purebred Arabian horses. Mr. Cherveny was a member of the Tama County Farm Bureau , the Iowa Arabia n Horse Association, and supported the Methodist church at Elberon. He is survive d by one son, Allen, Washington D.C., and two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Judy) Lange, Park Ridge, Illinois, and Beth, Cedar Rapids. Other survivors include three brothers Fred, Vinton, Ed, Belle Plaine, and William of Waukegan, Illinois; two sisters Mrs. Marian Merkel, Oak Park, Illinois and Mrs. R.H. Boggs (Helen), Bricktown, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his wife Leola, his parents, one brother, Charles, and three sisters, Erlin, in infancy, Mrs. Anna Bader, and Mrs. Agnes Danker.
