Description	:	Laverna F. Jensen was born November 22, 1911, the daughter of Tony and Mary Janssen Hansen. She died at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove on Sunday, May 22, 1994 at the age of eighty-two years. Laverna was born on the family farm in Ida County. She was baptized in 1912 and later confirmed at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig, by the Rev. Mauch. Read More	Laverna F. Jensen was born November 22, 1911, the daughter of Tony and Mary Janssen Hansen. She died at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove on Sunday, May 22, 1994 at the age of eighty-two years. Laverna was born on the family farm in Ida County. She was baptized in 1912 and later confirmed at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig, by the Rev. Mauch. She received her education in rural schools near her home and subsequently helped her famlily on the farm. January 18, 1933, Laverna was united in marriage to Walter Jensen in Schleswig. The couple settled on his family farm and were blessed with the birth of two children. In 1949, Walter died and Laverna remained on the farm until August of 1963 when she moved to Schleswig. She then became employed at the kitchen for seventeen years. In May of 1985 she moved to the Schleswig Retirement Apartments. Laverna was a loving and devoted wife and mother who took pride in caring for her family. In her leisure time she enjoyed quilting and cooking and had fond memories of the years she worked at the school. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig; Their Ladies Guild; the senior citizens group; and the Schleswig farmetts. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include; two sons, Dale and his wife, Pat of Schleswig, Dennis and his wife, Karen of Arvada, DO; five grandchilden, six great grandchildren, six great- grandchildren; one brother, Orville Hansen and his wife, Irene of Schleswig; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:30am, Tuesday, May 26, 1994 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, with Rev. Russell Duncan officiating the service and grave side rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.
