Mass of Christian Burial well be on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10:30 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with the Rev. Joseph Broudou officiating. Plantenberg, age 79, of Crofton, Nebraska died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Park View Nursing Home in Coleridge, Nebraska. Pallbearers are grandsons, Tony Plantenberg, Brad Colt, Mark Gary, Brian, Randy, Matthew, Jason, and Jeremy Plantenberg, Greg Meacham, and Kyle Frye. Lavina was born on November 29, 1927 to Benedict H. and Louise (Wuestewald) Hegge. She grew up in Crofton and married Emil Plantenberg on August 25, 1947 at Crofton. They lived in Pierre and Chamberlain, SD, and then Sioux City, Iowa where she worked for Zenith and was a CNA at the Westwood Nursing Home. They lived in Crofton since 1982 and she had been a resident of the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge since July 24, 2003. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed square dancing, softball, baseball, camping, and loved to spend time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lavina is survived by her husband, Emil of Crofton, 10 children and their spouses. Norma and Ted Colt of Sioux City, Iowa, Diane Meacham of Reno, NV, Norman and Lois Plantenberg of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Merle and Kay Plantenberg of Grand Island, NE, Rita Gill and her friend Larry Beaty of Sergeant Bluff, Keith Plantenberg of Sioux City, Kenny and Patty Plantenberg of Crofton, Marcia and Steve Gubbels of Randolph, Lisa and Jerry Collins of Sioux City, and Kevin and Bev Plantenberg of Watertown, SD, a daughter in law Jeanne Plantenberg of Sioux City, 30 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and a sister, Irene Ausdemore of Crofton. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons, Roger, Danny, and Donny Plantenberg, a son in law Bill Gill, a grandson Tim Colt, 4 brothers and 7 sisters.
