Partridge Ashley was born on February 22, 1921 in Grafton, Rensselaer County, New York, to her parents Asa Partridge, Jr. and Elizabeth Chesebrough. According to Elizabeth Edwards, Lavinia was named after her aunt Lovina Chessborough Goervey. On February 22, 1838, she married Jabez Ashley, Jr., presumably in Rensselaer County. Partridge Ashley was born on February 22, 1921 in Grafton, Rensselaer County, New York, to her parents Asa Partridge, Jr. and Elizabeth Chesebrough. According to Elizabeth Edwards, Lavinia was named after her aunt Lovina Chessborough Goervey. On February 22, 1838, she married Jabez Ashley, Jr., presumably in Rensselaer County. Jabez was a farmer in Rensselaer County. In about 1852-53, Jabez and Lavina moved with their family to Windsor Township, Eaton County, Michigan. Jabez also was a farmer in Eaton County, and he and Lavinia spent the rest of their lives there. Twelve children were born to them, and of these the following were born in New York and came with them to Michigan: Elizabeth H. (1839), Mariah Jane (1840), Isaac N. (1843), Daniel Peter (1945), William Merritt (1848), Margaret A. (1849) and John A. (1851). One daughter, Polly E. was born and there in 1842 and died in 1843. The rest of their children were born in Michigan: Asa Irvine (1854), Clara A. (1856), Alice L. (1858) and EmmaF. (1863). Jabez died on December 18, 1902, in Windsor Township, Eaton County Michigan. She is buried with her husband Jabez in the Dimondale Cemetery, in the town of Dimondale, Michigan. Also buried there are their sons Daniel Peter and William Merritt (and William's wife and children).
