Description	:	LaVonne Legan, age 80, of Persia, Iowa, died peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2012, the the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Neb. LaVonne, daughter of Guy and Mary Graybill, was born in her grandparent's house north of Persia on August 29, 1932. LaVonne attended country school and graduated from Persia High School in 1950. Read More	LaVonne Legan, age 80, of Persia, Iowa, died peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2012, the the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Neb. LaVonne, daughter of Guy and Mary Graybill, was born in her grandparent's house north of Persia on August 29, 1932. LaVonne attended country school and graduated from Persia High School in 1950. After graduation, she went to work at Union Pacific in Omaha. On July 19, 1952, LaVonne married her high school sweetheart, Marion Legan (son of Ralph and Anna Legan). Nine days later, Marion was shipped off to Korea. Upon his return, Marion and LaVonne purchased the John Koll farm just west of Persia and farmed for over 47 years. They were blessed with two children, Mary Ann and Rodney Lee. In addition to working the farm with Marion, LaVonne also maintained an 18-year career as supervisor of the mail department at World Insurance in Omaha. LaVonne was an active member of the Community of Christ Church (formerly RLDS). Her passions included cooking, sewing, crafts, bingo and she has even been seen at the casino a time or two. Together through almost 60 years of a strong devoted marriage, LaVonne and Marion enjoyed warm campfires, dancing a slow waltz, playing cards/marbles with family and friends and traveling. They visited all 50 states, parts of Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia. Husband Marion passed away in June, 2011, and shortly thereafter, LaVonne moved into a nice apartment at Heritage Point Assisted Living to be close to her daughter, granddaughter and sister. She enjoyed the multitude of activities and trips that were offered, but Persia and her friends there will always be in her heart. LaVonne is survived by her daughter, Mary Herzberg (Larry); granddaughter, Marla Olsen (Tony); and great grandsons, Aiden and Paxton, all of Omaha, Neb.; sister-in-law Donna Yecha, of Omaha; and brother-in-law, C.L. (Sonny) Busch, of Persia; and a host of loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; son, Rodney; her parents, Guy and Mary Graybill; sisters-in-law Kathleen (Pug) Busch and Lois Bradley. LaVonne will be remembered as a strong yet compassionate individual, a devoted and caring wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished friend.
