Read More	OTTUMWA — Lawrence David “Larry” Kitterman, 85, of Ottumwa, died at 9:15 a.m. March 30, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born February 10, 1930, in Ottumwa to Robert Ancil and Gertrude Geraldine Garde Kitterman. He married Mary Colleen DeFord on November 1, 1954. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1994. He married Louise Fuqua on June 3, 1995. A graduate of Catholic Central High School in 1949, Larry served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked more than 40 years for the Iowa State Highway Commission and Iowa Department of Transportation, retiring as maintenance supervisor in 1992. After retirement he worked for Ideal Ready Mix, then Cargill Meat Solutions, receiving the first annual Kitterman Award from the Human Resource Department.. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #888, the Buffalo Lodge and American Historical Truck Society. Surviving are his wife, Louise; his children, Cindy (Courtney) McFarland of Agency, Sheryl (Mark) Williams of West Point and Mark Kitterman of Ottumwa; stepchildren, Kay (Don) Doud of Ottumwa and Michael (Vonda) Kitterman of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jo (Ronald) Wilson of Des Moines and Maureen (John) Miller of Des Moines; and a brother-in-law, John Tarbell of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Charles Kitterman; a stepson, Ben Kitterman; three sisters, Katherine Andrews, Ada Tarbell and Geraldine Kitterman; two brothers, James Kitterman and infant Robert Kitterman Funeral Mass will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation begins after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by family visitation until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Serenity Glen Unit.
