Read More	Lawrence Dietrich Johanes (Tony) Kirchhoff, 76, was born to John and Anna (Heitmann) Kirchhoff on March 14, 1924 at the farm located near Byron. He died April 26 at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, in Superior. Tony was baptized by C. W. Seybold and confirmed by Pastor L. Hoefer at St. Peter Lutheran Church rural Byron. His faith was a central focus on his life that he instilled in his family. He graduated from Byron High School in 1941, attended Hebron College for one year and then one semester at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. During the years of schooling he helped his mother on the farm where they were producing turkeys for the Midwest Turkey Growers Association until an early winter storm killed about 1,800 turkeys just before marketing. This ended the endeavor. On Dec. 14,1947, he married Verna Biltoft. At the time of marriage he was working for Armour Creameries, picking up cream and eggs produced on farms for delivery to the plant in Superior. In 1955 he drilled one of the first "deep well" irrigation wells in the area and began to grow certified seed. Tony became a charter, grower member of NC+ in 1958, producing hybrid corn and milo seed. In addition to seed production, Tony was involved in NC+ seed sales and for a number of years traveled North Central Kansas as a Sales Manager. He was active in many church, community and school committees, including the Nebraska Campus Ministry Board, Rural Ministry Board, and Blue Valley Lutheran Home Board and was a member of the Nebraska Crop Improvement Association. He is survived by his wife, Verna, Superior; his children. Rex, Hardy, Mrs. Tim Schmidt (Sonia), Superior, and Craig, Clarksburg. Calif.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Orville Bokenkamp(Betty), Deshler. Services were held Monday at the Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Clint McDonald was the officiant. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements. Source: Superior Express, May 4, 2000.
