Description	:	OBITUARY LAWRENCE F. BILGER, the son of Frank and Mary Kinsley Bilger, was born May 3, 1899 in Doniphan county. He moved to the farm south of Oneida formerly known as the Gettle Farm with his folks, brother and sister in 1910. He continued to live on this farm until he suffered a stroke in September of 1971, at which time he became a resident of the Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Seneca. BILGER, the son of Frank and Mary Kinsley Bilger, was born May 3, 1899 in Doniphan county. He moved to the farm south of Oneida formerly known as the Gettle Farm with his folks, brother and sister in 1910. He continued to live on this farm until he suffered a stroke in September of 1971, at which time he became a resident of the Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Seneca. He attended high school in Sabetha. When he was a young man he entered farming and was a farmer and stockman all of his working years. He trapped and sold pelts for extra income and at one time had 100 swarms of bees and sold honey. He also was known for the large variety of watermelons and strawberries that he grew. He owned and operated a threshing machine and threshed for neighbors. Lawrence died October 31, 1987 at the nursing home following declining health. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Dorothy Elliott on August 5, 1973 and one brother, Jay Bilger on March 12, 1977. Surviving him is one sister, Mary Neil of Holton, Kansas. Funeral services were held Novembr 2, 1897 at 10:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Seneca. Rev. Clay Bramble of the United Methodist Church in Seneca officiated. Organ selections were played by Mrs. Terry Nordhus and she accompanied Gordon Alvis, Jr., who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden". Serving as casketbearers were Ed Pfrang, Carl Swart, Lawrence Swart, Harry Hutfles, J.M. Swart and Melvin Swart. Memorial contributions were made to the Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Mr. Bilger's name. The interment was made at the Oneida Cemetery.
