Description	:	Lawrence Menke, twenty-one, of near Lawrence, was killed Monday apparently by the accidental discharge of a .22 calibre rifle he was carrying. The gun had been used to kill a beef and Menke held it in his hands as he stepped into a barn. Relatives believed he stumbled and struck the trigger. He was the son of H.B. Menke. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Menke. Those who remain to mourn his loss, are his mother, Mrs. Menke, five brothers, Henry B., Herman, Albert, George and Aloys, and two sisters, Mrs. Jos. Schroer and Mrs. Jos. Ostdiek all of this vicinity. His father died when Lawrence was two years old. Deceased was a member of the Young People Sodality and Knights of Columbus at St. Stephens. Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at 9:30 conducted by the Rev. Father Hahn and burial was in the St. Stephens cemetery (sic). -- Lawrence (Special Correspondence.)
