Description	:	Lebbeus Bash was the eldest son and second child of Henry John Bash & Phebe Rodgers. He migrated from western Pennsylvania to central Iowa with his parents and siblings in a covered wagon in 1855. They farmed north of the village of Marshalltown in Iowa township (later divided and renamed Liscomb township). Lebbeus became a wealthy farmer, as was his father. They farmed north of the village of Marshalltown in Iowa township (later divided and renamed Liscomb township). Lebbeus became a wealthy farmer, as was his father. Lebbeus married on June 24, 1869 to Sarah Ann Jones (1854-1894), daughter of Richard Jones & Martha Webb; 3 children: Nora Belle (1870-1918), Calvin William (1871-1940), and Charles Henry Bash (1873-1909). After his wife's death, Lebbeus hired a neighbor's beautiful daughter, Delphia Gertrude Farmer, to be his housekeeper. Romance bloomed, and on March 24, 1897, with the consent of her parents, Lebbeus, age 47, married young Delphia, age 15. They had two children: Catharine Lorraine (1900-1964) and Lebbeus Kenneth "Kenneth" Bash (1902-1991). Delphia (1881-1951) was the daughter of Osborn Lewis Farmer (1853-1931) & Rhodina Lepley (1860-1913). In 1918, widow Delphia married widower William Fletcher Koontz. She later divorced Fletcher on grounds of desertion, and she resumed her previous surname of Bash. Fletcher Koontz (1858-1929), FAG#117283996, is buried at Riverside Cemetery beside his first wife Iola, who died in 1908. Lebbeus Bash the elder is buried on the Bash lot with his two wives, his parents, his brother Sherman, his son Charles, and his daughter Catharine McCoy. The second photo, circa 1911, shows Lebbeus with his youngest son Kenneth on a motor trip from Iowa to Houston, Texas, to consider speculating in land purchases there. Note the Spanish Moss hanging on the southern trees. Lebbeus died the following year. The top photo, dated 7-1909, shows Leb with his son Calvin. Cal's brother Charlie had died Jan 22, 1909.
